The aim of this module is to explain the purpose of injectors and autosamplers within the HPLC system
The principles behind which sample injection systems work will be described, as well as the individual components of an injection valve. The correct and incorrect ways to use loop injectors in manual injection mode will be highlighted, and we will discuss the major components and operating principles of a range of typical autosampler devices. Common autosampler problems are outlined, and some troubleshooting principles introduced. We also talk about how carryover may occur within the autosampler, and how to minimize it.
This module will teach the purpose of sample introduction systems within HPLC. The understanding of the components and operating principles of injection valves will be discussed. You will be able to select correct sample volumes to be aspirated into loop injectors to optimise quantitative accuracy, as well as describe the main operating principles of a range of typical autosampler devices. You will learn how to recognise advantages, disadvantages and potential problems of each type of autosampler, and outline strategies for reducing carryover in autosampler devices.
This course is suited to anyone working with HPLC
